How it all Started
Community Church of Mountain City was established by Pastor Ron Drake and his wife, Nancy. The church began as a small group who gathered together to study scripture with one another. The first worship gathering was held at Henson Funeral Home on April 7, 1991, with a total of 13 people in attendance.
Pastor Ron led faithfully for years until he felt God nudge him to step aside and pass the reigns off to Pastor Tim Cox Jr. and his wife Theresa in 2017. Under Pastor Tim's leadership, the church grew to over 200 people, expanded to two services, developed small groups and a youth program, and widened its outreach in the local community.
In October 2023, Pastor Tim moved his family out West to be with their daughter serving in the air force, leaving the church in the hands of Youth Pastor, Dean Visser. Dean and his wife, Meagan, officially stepped in as lead pastors in January 2024, and since then the church has continued to grow to over 300 people with plans for a building expansion coming in 2026. The church's small groups program, children and youth ministry, and local and global missions continues to thrive, and we are excited to see what God has in store for this body of believers.
Community Church of Mountain City continues to strive to be a community of like-minded people who are following Jesus to love and serve everyone, everywhere, everyday.
